| No, not a Minispeed car!!
The original speedster built at the Molesey Vmax works in the after hours by me in the summer of '96. Based around cutting the roof off to make a two seater roadster, it also had a 2" body 'chop' to lower the profile as per the sixties 'minisprint' idea.
All steel construction, tube and box reinforcement and bracing still only added up to a 430 kg weight . Featured in miniworld Nov. '97. Engine spec was mild at around 90 hp, with webber 45 dcoe, 3.44 cwp. The engine was later changed, for the new owner, with a 1400 cc unit prepared by vmax .
The Standing 1/4 mile was timed at 14.6 sec, with the original engine, at Santa Pod Raceway. Originally finished in teal blue with two white stripes, and beige low back bucket seats.

It was sold at the end of '96, and now resides at Minispeed, Surrey and featured on their website as one of "our own cars"...
The second speedster was built by myself in 2000, to similar specification, additions were in the form of polished stainless roll over bars, and more complete interior. Finished in silver with two white stripes and black interior. Engine spec was again mild with around 85 bhp. This was sold at the end of 2000 to Minispeed, Surrey.
The next one is expected soon!!!! |
